ATKINSON NEIGHBORHOOD COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION (ANCA) is providing neighbors with ongoing information about planning and development projects that affect our quality of life.  We're educating property owners, business owners, residents, and other interested people, about influencing decisions that impact our neighborhood. We're keeping you informed of things like the CENTRAL YMCA's current zone change application. If passed, this zone change will allow a 150 foot-high luxury apartment tower to be built on their property at 401 Atkinson Drive. We're informing you of the zone change application process, step by step.  ANCA is keeping you informed of any meetings or hearings where you can submit oral and/or written testimony. You'll be supporting or opposing the zone change, and suggesting how the Y's property can best be used to help make living in ATKINSON NEIGHBORHOOD a more. well, neighborly experience. We have seven towers in our neighborhood.  They are: ALA MOANA HOTEL CONDOMINIUM,  ATKINSON PLAZA, ATKINSON TOWERS, SUMMER PALACE, SUNSET TOWERS, and YACHT HARBOR TOWERS One and Two.   We can think of each of these towers as a vertical village. We also have many neighbors living in low rise buildings. Atkinson neighborhood includes the HAWAII CONVENTION CENTER, which soon is shutting down for a long time, with construction work that will be affecting many of us; ALA MOANA CENTER, once billed as the largest outdoor shopping mall in the world. We are home to two major labor unions, and many businesses. Finally, we are home to the HONOLULU CENTRAL YMCA, which many of us are working toward bringing back to full functionality, as the beating heart of our neighborhood. This is where you come in.
